ERBA Mannheim (London, UK) unveiled the Erba NEXUS next-generation automation solution at AACC 2019. Aimed at delivering mid-scale, advanced automation across immunology, clinical chemistry and hematology, the Erba NEXUS range employs advanced technology, including AI-based blood cell image analysis, advanced CLIA magnetic beads, thick film ISE analysis and an intuitive sample transport system, to deliver affordable modular automation.

The hematology system uses a unique combination of ultra-high definition imaging, AI and traditional methods to analyze thousands of blood cells per minute for improved turn-around time. The immunoassay system uses high sensitivity CLIA technology with proprietary magnetic bead design with a menu of over 100 parameters, while the chemistry system uses advanced thick-film ISE analysis technology and innovative reagent management to deliver improved workflow and enhanced analytical result quality.

Additionally, the company also exhibited the XL200 and XL640 – its signature chemistry analyzers which have been upgraded to include a touch screen with improved software for easier operation, longer walk-away time and faster TAT. Also on display at the tradeshow was the ELAN 30s – a new fully automated compact benchtop ELISA microstrip processor with easy to use software, including QC reports and the ability to simultaneously perform six different tests.

Among its existing suite of solutions featured at AACC 2019 was the LAURA XL fully automatic urine analyzer and the H560 and ELITE 580 fully automatic hematology analyzers. The company also showcased its new LIMS software with mobile app for providing high function device interfacing and remote online approval of patient reports, thus eliminating need for expensive LIS systems.
