Microplate Sample Processor Improves Performance of Open ELISA Systems

A microplate sample processor reduces laboratory time and labor in diagnostic testing while ensuring the accurate results.

The Agility system combines the simple workflow of a closed enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) system with the flexibility of an open system. More...
It bridges a gap between fully automated, closed ELISA systems and low volume, slower, open systems. More tests can be run in less time with fewer tedious steps and costly errors.

Magellan Biosciences (Chelmsford, MA, USA) unveiled its Dynex (Chantilly, VA, USA) Agility microplate sample processor in Atlanta (GA, USA) on July 27, 2011 at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Clinical Lab Expo. The Agility system significantly reduces hands-on time for ELISA test procedures, offering walk-away performance for sample and reagent loading, liquid transfer steps, plate transfers, and pipetting.

Processing errors can occur even with automated closed ELISA systems in the dozen or more required manual steps. For example, users must decant and measure reagents, monitor, and stock consumables, such as pipette tips and wash buffers. The Agility system automates all these steps.

ELISA immunoassays are ubiquitous in diagnostic labs, used for a wide variety of applications from infectious disease to drugs-of-abuse testing.

Dynex Technologies is a subsidiary of Magellan Biosciences, a global manufacturer of products designed to make diagnostic testing easier, more cost effective and less labor intensive.
