The integration of molecular imaging, molecular diagnostics, and information technology (IT) has been shown to lead to advancements in personalized healthcare. More...
Attendees at a molecular summit recently addressed these new developments and their impact on healthcare.

Personalized medicine was the center focus as healthcare executives, radiologists, pathologists, and IT professionals gathered in the Philadelphia, PA, USA, February 10-11, 2009, to learn the latest trends and techniques in providing integrated healthcare. Siemens Healthcare (Erlangen, Germany) and The Dark Report (Spicewood, TX, USA) brought together industry experts in molecular imaging, molecular diagnostics, and IT to discuss rapidly advancing trends in the integration of imaging and clinical laboratory diagnostics as a means to enhance predictive diagnosis and customize effective treatment to the individual.

"We are now achieving the integration of imaging and diagnostics, which is transforming how we approach the full spectrum of disease, from prediction and presymptomatic stages to the treatment of most serious of illnesses.” said Thomas Miller, CEO, Workflow & Solutions Division, Siemens Healthcare. "Siemens is pleased to participate once again in this trailblazing event, in which leading experts exchange discoveries and cutting edge practices with the ultimate goal of optimizing patient care.”

Now in its second year, the Molecular Summit builds on the success of 2008's program. Conference attendees may chose from a selection of 26 educational sessions that described how innovators are advancing clinical care and enhancing their financial strength by incorporating the latest molecular imaging techniques in tandem with emerging molecular diagnostics. Industry pioneers spoke about evolving changes in R&D, the discovery of new medicines, effective policies to translate these discoveries into better outcomes for patients, resulting treatments that improve healthcare, and new business strategies to advance the field of personalized medicine.

The Siemens Healthcare Sector is one of the world's largest suppliers to the healthcare industry. With its laboratory diagnostics acquisitions, Siemens Healthcare is an integrated healthcare company, bringing together imaging and lab diagnostics, therapy, and healthcare information technology solutions, supplemented by consulting and support services.

The Dark Report Intelligence Service is a leading source of useful information about the clinical laboratory industry and the profession of pathology.
