QIAGEN Enhances QIAcuity Platform with Gene Expression and Multiplexing Tools

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 17 Jun 2026

QIAGEN (Venlo, Netherlands) has introduced additions to its QIAcuity dPCR ecosystem that focus on gene expression, expanded assay content, and workflow standardization for life sciences and biopharma users. More...

Planned launches later in 2026 include QIAcuity Gene Expression Assays for human, mouse, and rat research applications. The expansion is intended to support broader use of dPCR in areas traditionally served by qPCR.

The company also plans the QIAcuity OneStep High Multiplex Probe PCR Kit, which enables up to 12 RNA targets to be analyzed in a single reaction. By consolidating targets, the kit is designed to reduce sample consumption, hands-on time, and workflow complexity while producing richer data from limited material. These offerings complement the GeneGlobe platform, which provides access to more than 10 million predesigned assays and supports custom assay design when required.

For cell and gene therapy quality control, the residual DNA testing portfolio is being expanded to cover additional producer cell systems, including Sf9/Baculovirus, Pichia pastoris, Vero, and Mouse. The lineup also includes the recently launched QIAcuity HEK293 resDNA Sizing Kit, which measures host-cell DNA concentration and fragment size distribution to support biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing workflows. Together, these tools address upstream and downstream needs in therapeutic development environments.

QIAcuity Software 3.5, scheduled for release later this month, adds advanced analysis templates and automated reporting so users can define parameters before a run and receive standardized outputs afterward. By automating interpretation and documentation, laboratories can reduce manual review while improving traceability, consistency, and operational efficiency. Integration with Hamilton robotic systems extends automation to nanoplate setup, filling, and sealing, enabling end‑to‑end workflows from assay setup through data analysis.

Adoption of QIAcuity has surpassed 3,200 cumulative placements worldwide, with more than 400 customers operating multiple instruments and over 1,100 publications referencing the platform. Additional details on the roadmap and growth opportunities are set for the QIAcuity Deep Dive event on June 15, 2026.

"Gene expression represents one of the largest application areas in molecular biology and a significant opportunity for digital PCR," said Thierry Bernard, CEO of QIAGEN. "By expanding the QIAcuity ecosystem with new assays, enhanced multiplexing capabilities and workflow solutions, we are helping customers apply digital PCR to a broader range of research and biopharma applications."
