Puritan Medical Products Showcasing Innovation at AMP2025 in Boston

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 05 Nov 2025

Puritan Medical Products (Guilford, ME, USA), the world’s most trusted manufacturer of swabs and specimen collection devices, is set to exhibit at AMP2025 in Boston, Massachusetts, from November 11–15. More...

Known globally as the “Swab Experts,” Puritan continues to lead the way in developing innovative, reliable, and industry-specific specimen collection and transport solutions.

With a legacy spanning decades, Puritan has built its reputation by providing a wide range of swab products designed to serve multiple industries. Its offerings span diagnostic, medical, and genetic applications in healthcare to precision-engineered, static-free swabs used for delicate tasks in the semiconductor sector. The company also develops transport media, ensuring complete solutions for accurate specimen collection, preservation, and analysis.

In 2025, Puritan has already showcased its solutions at several major international events, including ESCMID Global 2025 in Vienna and ADLM 2025 in Chicago. These appearances highlighted the company’s commitment to advancing diagnostic tools worldwide, fostering collaboration with healthcare professionals, and introducing next-generation specimen collection technologies.

At AMP2025, Puritan is introducing its latest advancement: the Puritan® PurSafe Plus® Collection & Transport System, featuring Puritan’s patented HydraFlock® flocked swab. PurSafe Plus® will officially launch in the coming months and will debut exclusively in the U.S. before expanding to additional markets.

PurSafe Plus® is specifically engineered for the collection, inactivation, and preservation of human upper respiratory specimens suspected of containing SARS-CoV-2. This versatile system supports specimen collection, transport, and storage at both 2–4°C and 25–30°C, offering laboratories flexibility without compromising integrity. Each PurSafe Plus® kit includes one polypropylene vial containing 1 mL of MK buffer, a proven buffer solution preservative; one sterile, pre-scored HydraFlock® flocked swab available in three styles for nasal, nasopharyngeal, and throat collection; and media-only options for laboratories requiring flexible workflows.

HydraFlock® technology provides a distinct advantage in clinical diagnostics, as its unique flocking design increases fiber surface area, enabling superior sample collection and release. This results in more reliable sample recovery, greater availability of analyte, and ultimately more accurate test results—a critical factor in clinical decision-making.

Puritan invites attendees to visit the company’s booth #1129 at AMP2025 in Boston, where attendees can learn more about the company’s comprehensive line of specimen collection and transport devices, and experience firsthand the difference that innovation, expertise, and quality make in diagnostics.
