Posted on 12 Jul 2007
Clinical Data's (CLDA; Newton MA, USA) Cogenics division successfully launched services on the Roche (Basel, Switzerland) 454 gene-sequencer (GS) flex physical simulation (FLX) system at its facility in Meylan (France).

Cogenics signed a co-marketing agreement with Roche Diagnostics Inc. More...
to offer ‘next generation' sequencing services some eight weeks prior to the launch. The Roche system enhances Cogenics' portfolio of services by providing whole genome sequencing expressed sequence tag sequencing, identification of small RNAs, transcriptome analysis, and metagenomics on the new platform.

Robert Bondaryk, Ph.D., senior vice president and general manager of Cogenics said, We have already attracted new customers for the first projects on the platform and we have a strong pipeline of current and new customer interest in 454 FLX sequencing as a companion to traditional automated Sanger sequencing.

Clinical Data is leveraging advances in molecular discovery to provide tangible benefits for patients, doctors, scientists, and health plans worldwide. Its Cogenics division provides integrated services for nucleic acid extraction, genotyping, sequencing, quantitative polymerase chain reaction (QPCR), and gene expression, as well as serving as a biorepository, for both research and regulated environments: good laboratory practice (GLP), current good manufacturing products (cGMP), and clinical laboratory improvement amendments (CLIA). Its Vital Diagnostics division offers in vitro diagnostics solutions for the clinical laboratory.
