Posted on 24 Feb 2010
A new sample management system interfaced to a two-dimensional (2D) code reader allows the user to effectively and efficiently organize and track individual samples.

Keeping track of large numbers and types of samples and specimen (i.e., chemical compounds, DNA, RNA, plasmids, clones, proteins, peptides, probes, antibodies, enzymes, tissues, cell lines) where they are and their precise location is a demanding and critical task for many laboratories and sample storage facilities. More...
Developed for Micronics (Lelystad, The Netherlands), Track-IT is a complete software package designed to track and manage samples--suitable for biobanks and biorepositories as well as molecular biology, cellular biology, clinical, chemical, biochemistry, immunology, high-throughput screening and in vitro fertilization (IVF) laboratories.

Fully compatible with most commercial barcode readers and scanners, the Track-IT allows the user to catalogue and organize samples quickly and efficiently. The central information database produced by Track-IT is customizable to match the workflow of an interval's laboratory, as well as to match the unique aspects of different sample types. The software has been designed to empower laboratory scientists to simply manage sample data and information and make it available to other colleagues in their organization.

Offering operation over an intranet, Track-IT allows data to be accessed from any connected computer in the network, thereby accelerating information retrieval. Consequently, laboratory staff is able to spend less time on repetitive and time-consuming operations and dedicate more time to productive research activities.

Track-IT allows the user to simply import data from existing files into a common presentation, undertake cross database searches, quickly retrieve information, and produce reports. Compliant with CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 21 Part 11 protocols, the system offers full sample audit traceability.

Micronic is focused on the design and production of innovative sample storage tubes, accessories, and instruments.
