DYNEX Technologies (Prague, Czech Republic) demonstrated its DYNABLOT automatic analyzer for immunoblot and Western blot methods at this year's MEDICA, the world's largest annual medical technology trade fair, which took place from 18-21 November in Düsseldorf, Germany. At the 2019 edition of MEDICA, more than 5,000 exhibitors from 70 countries presented their newest products and ideas. The event also drew more than 120,000 trade visitors from over 170 countries.

The increasing digitalization of processes in the healthcare economy was a major topic at this year's MEDICA and was represented by exhibitors at the event as well as reflected in the programs of the accompanying conferences and forums. A new feature this year was a new allocation of themes in the exhibition halls. Due to the increasing convergence of software and hardware, especially in the field of medical technology, the halls for the MEDICA segment of information and communication technology was moved to make it directly connected to the halls for medical technology and electromedicine. Manufacturers of surgical instruments were moved to halls that brought them thematically closer to providers of imaging technology (e.g. endoscopy) as well as complete solutions for modern hybrid operating rooms.

DYNEX, a supplier of laboratory equipment and related services, primarily focuses on the sale of instruments, diagnostics and other reagents for immunochemical, molecular-biological and microbiological laboratories. DYNEX specializes in the following methods: ELISA, immunoblot and Western blot, immunofluorescence assay (IFA), PCR, hybridization, electrophoresis, microarray, next-generation sequencing, lateral-flow immunoassay (LFIA), immunoprecipitation, cultivation and cell growth curves measurements.

At the 2019 edition of MEDICA, DYNEX demonstrated its DYNABLOT fully automated analyzer for immunoblot and Western blot methods. The system fully automates blot pro- cessing starting with samples being pipetted and finishes with camera image capture. Only insertion of samples in primary tubes and strips are required from an operator. The instrument is fitted with reagents peristaltic pumps located at its front for easy use and handling. The pumps are capable of running in reverse. It assists the functions “Antidrop” (no drops at the end of tubing during dispensing) and “Reagents saving” (aspiration of dead volume back to reagent bottles after last dis-pensing).

The mixing of strip content during incubation is assisted by rocking the strip plate. Slow, medium or fast rocking speeds can be selected. Used liquid media is removed by an integrated vacuum pump and then directed to a waste bottle with a level sensor. Its compact dimensions (800 x 500 x 540 mm), weight (35 kg), and very quiet running make it friendly to laboratory environments.
