Alps Dx Debuts Oral Fluid Sample Preparation Device at ADLM 2026

The company is debuting Xpressor by Alps Dx, a filtration and capping device designed to improve oral fluid sample quality and preanalytical efficiency, alongside its Atelier automated processing platform.

Xpressor is designed to address long-standing challenges in forensic and clinical toxicology laboratories, where oral fluid sample preparation can involve several manual handling steps. Conventional processes may require technicians to squeeze collection swabs by hand, change gloves between specimens, transfer samples into new tubes, or perform centrifugation, increasing processing time and the potential for contamination, variability, and sample loss.

The device simplifies oral fluid preparation into two steps. After opening the collection tube, the technician inserts the Xpressor filter and cap, allowing filtration to occur inside the original tube rather than requiring the sample to be transferred to a separate container. This approach is intended to preserve the original chain-of-custody tube while reducing manual intervention.

Alps Dx notes that early independent studies indicate that Xpressor requires less handling and produces more consistent sample clarity than traditional preparation methods. Laboratories using the device have also reported fewer glove changes, reduced contamination risk, improved traceability, and shorter processing times. The system may additionally reduce sample loss and consumable use, supporting cost-control and sustainability goals.

Visitors can also explore Atelier by Alps Dx, a scalable, high-throughput platform that automates labor-intensive oral fluid sample handling and preparation. The system is designed to improve workflow efficiency and traceability while reducing manual processes and the potential for human error. It is offered through a subscription model that allows laboratories to expand automation without an upfront capital investment.

Together, Xpressor and Atelier form part of the company’s connected approach to modernizing the oral fluid preanalytical workflow. Alps Dx is expanding its portfolio of instruments, consumables, workflow software, and mobile technologies to support oral fluid specimens from collection through laboratory analysis.
