A compact, semiautomated, clinical chemistry analyzer for routine and specialized diagnostic testing has added HbA1c to its menu.

The new test is run on an analyzer, the RX monza, and results are achieved rapidly and easily. More...
The analyzer offers excellent specificity, precision, and sensitivity. It is a tough and reliable system, which requires little maintenance and is suited to a variety of laboratory settings including clinical laboratories and specialized clinics.

The RX monza offers more than 120 programmable tests, one-touch or two-touch direct-access keys, and full on-board quality control (QC). The instrument includes intelligent, easy-to-use software and can store up to 1000 sample results. Supplementary QC software packages are available 24/7.

A product of Randox (Crumlin, UK), the RX monza test menu includes routine clinical chemistry, cardiac, lipids, diabetes, antioxidants, renal function, liver function, electrolytes, veterinary testing, and food and wine testing.

The HbA1c test is used for routine monitoring of diabetic or at-risk people, to help prevent long-term complications of the condition. Diabetes-related complications are reduced by long term monitoring and tight control of blood glucose levels. Because red blood cells have a life span of 4 months, HbA1c gives an indication of long-term control of the patient's blood sugar levels and compliance with his/her diet.

Diabetes is a chronic and progressive disease that affects almost every aspect of life. The disease can result in premature death, ill health, and disability, conditions that can be prevented or delayed by high quality management and care.
