Software for Managing Microarray Data

By Biotechdaily staff writers
Posted on 13 Jun 2002
New software, called ArrayInformatics, is designed to help life science researchers sort, organize, and evaluate gene expression microarray data. More...

Because of the increasing amount of data to process, managing microarray data is becoming a complex challenge, yet keeping track of samples, procedures, and analytic methods is critical to ensuring reliable and reusable data. The new ArrayInformatics database and visualization tool set can organize, track, and integrate data as a relational set of links across every step in gene expression workflow. Researchers can easily capture and integrate microarray data from instruments and other software. Those using gene expression tools for drug discovery, gene expression profiling, and other genomics-related work can publish results quickly and compare results with colleagues in a standardized format.

The ArrayInformatics software was developed by PerkinElmer, Inc. (Boston, MA, USA), a global provider of drug discovery, research, and clinical screening products.

"ArrayInformatics is a very useful data management tool for the high throughput as well as occasional microarray laboratory,” said Dr. Michael Lombardi, Center for Neurologic Disease (Cambridge, MA, USA). "Data access, integration, and analysis are relatively simple and easy to grasp. The dynamic interface with Web-based data sites makes researching genes of interest a click away.”
