Mechanism of the Valveless Pump Revealed in Online Video Presentation

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 16 Dec 2014
The secrets behind a precision valveless pump used in both research and clinical instruments and processes have been revealed in a high definition video presentation.

Fluid Metering, Inc. More...
(New York, USA) is a metering pumps and dispensers manufacturer, who pioneered the first patented valveless rotating and reciprocating piston metering pump concept and has been producing instruments for precise fluid control for over 55 years.

The Fluid Metering, Inc. CeramPump design utilizes a single, dimensionally stable, chemically inert ceramic piston that ensures long term, drift free fluid control. The valveless pumping function is accomplished by the synchronous rotation and reciprocation of the ceramic piston in a precisely mated ceramic cylinder liner. One complete piston revolution is required for each suction/discharge cycle. The flow rate, which can be changed while pump is operating or at rest, is easily adjusted between 0%–100% by moving the pump head position, which changes the piston stroke length and, in turn, the flow rate.

As described in a recently released on-line video presentation, the CeramPump relies on only one moving part, a rotating and reciprocating ceramic piston, to accomplish all fluid control functions without valves and will maintain a precision of 0.5% for millions of cycles without calibration or maintenance.
