State-of-the-Art Cryostat Designed for Both Clinical and Research Use

Posted on 02 Aug 2011
A new, state-of-the-art cryostat designed for both clinical and research use has recently been released to the market.

The CryoStar NX70 Cryostat is an innovation of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. More...
(Milford, MA, USA), a major producer of laboratory equipment.

The new cryostat incorporates several advances in computer control and LED technology. This is seen particularly in the temperature control system, which rapidly adjusts to changes in settings, enabling rapid cooling, as well as consistent and precise temperature control. Three user-defined programs are available for instant recall of frequently used temperature settings.

The instrument is controlled by electronic LCD touch-screen, together with joystick control, which allows precise oversight of the motorized cutting module. Motorized cutting reduces user fatigue and avoids repetitive injury, while the large open chamber with bright, adjustable LED lighting provides optimal visibility during sectioning.

The CryoStar NX70 is available with optional modules including the “Cold-D” disinfection system for protection against surface contaminants and “Vacutome” for wrinkle-free sections and waste removal. Additional options provide the instrument with standby and sleep modes to reduce energy consumption and background noise.
