Upgraded Spectrophotometers for the Computerized Laboratory

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 21 Feb 2011
A standard laboratory workhorse, the spectrophotometer, has been upgraded to meet the demands of the modern, computerized laboratory.

The venerable laboratory instruments manufacturer Cecil Instruments (Cambridge, United Kingdom) has announced a series of upgrades for their classic double and single-beam spectrophotometers.

The most radical change to these instruments is the addition of a USB port. More...
This port will enable the instrument to function according to instructions entered through a personal computer. Working under Microsoft Windows – in any one of six available languages - data collected by the instrument will be readily available for manipulation by Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or other software programs.

The upgraded spectrophotometers will continue to provide Cecil's traditional fast, reliable, easy, accurate, and precise measurements at wavelength ranges up to 1,100 nm. In addition, Cecil's instruments may be modified further with a wide range of options, including high performance wavelength scanning, multiple wavelength analyses, multicomponent analyses, kinetic analyses, calibration curves, and spectral derivatives.
