New Spectrophotometer Measures Microsamples

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 31 Mar 2010
A state-of-the art spectrophotometer is now available for the rapid and reliable measurement of very small nucleic acid and protein samples.

The GE Healthcare (Little Chalfont, United Kingdom) NanoVue spectrophotometer is capable of assaying samples of 0.5 μL to 2 μL over the broad range of from 200 nm to 1100 nm. More...
The samples can be placed directly onto the gold-colored sample plate for measurement, and then they are recovered using a pipette. If sample recovery is not required, the hydrophobic sample plate can be wiped clean quickly and easily.

The instrument is stand-alone and requires neither a computer to operate nor time-consuming third-party recalibration. The spectrophotometer comes complete with advanced software for GE's CyDye reagents incorporating intuitive dropdown lists for common fluors and the full CyDye range for easy protocol selection. The operator can select from a wide range of storage methods and data output options, such as an integrated printer, print-via-computer software, optional wireless connectivity, and a new SD card accessory.

The NanoVue has memory space for 90 user-defined methods, which can be stored with password protection making it ideal for multi-user labs.

Mathematical Biomarkers Use Routine Blood Tests to Guide Adaptive Prostate Cancer Therapy

Personalizing systemic therapy for prostate cancer remains challenging because tumors can evolve under treatment pressure, driving resistance and early relapse. Continuous high-dose regimens may initially... Read more

New Liquid Biopsy Workflow Maximizes Tumor Signals from Limited Blood Samples

Liquid biopsy seeks to detect tumor-derived signals from small blood samples, but circulating cell-free DNA is scarce and heterogeneous, limiting sensitivity. Combining complementary signals such as methylation,... Read more
