Detection Platform Receives Homogenous Time-Resolved Fluorescence Certification

By Biotechdaily staff writers
Posted on 19 Feb 2008
A unique, modular detection platform has been awarded homogenous time-resolved fluorescence (HTRF) certification. More...
This verifies that the platform meets or exceeds performance criteria for HTRF assays.

A new HTRF detection cartridge is now available for the modular Paradigm platform bringing its growing total selection to 10. These detection cartridges can be interchanged in less than five minutes to meet different assay needs. Paradigm is a user-upgradeable and configurable multimode reader. It is ideal for labs with multiple users and applications. The high-throughput detector reads on the fly, in formats from 6 to 1,536 wells.

Cisbio's (Saclay, France) HTRF detection cartridge was added to Beckman Coulter's (Fullerton, CA, USA) modular platform, Paradigm. The HTRF technology is incorporated into a growing selection of assays and reagents for screening and drug discovery. These assays produce good results and are easily miniaturized and automated.

Jim Barry, marketing manager for Beckman Coulter explained, "Detection modes are difficult and costly to add to other multimode detectors once the systems are installed. Our detection cartridge system maximizes the users' return on investment and our instruments and automation platforms are already well established in drug discovery and screening labs, where the use of TR-FRET assays, specifically HTRF [is] growing.” TR-FRET unites time-resolved fluorescence (TRF) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) principles.

Cisbio is a global developer of products and technologies used in nuclear medicine, in- vitro diagnostics, and assay development for drug screening procedures. The company pioneered the field of homogenous fluorescence methodologies via its proprietary technology, HTRF, a sensitive, robust technology for the detection of molecular interactions.

Beckman Coulter Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets products that simplify, automate, and innovate complex biomedical tests. More than 200,000 Beckman Coulter systems operate in laboratories around the world supplying critical information for improving patient health and reducing the cost-of-care.
