Diazyme Laboratories, Inc. More...

, based in Poway, California, has acquired the business of Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies LLC from CARR Biosystems. Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-registered manufacturer and seller of chemistry systems and reagents. Founded in 1960 and headquartered in West Caldwell, New Jersey, the business will be integrated into Diazyme’s operations.

Diazyme uses proprietary enzyme and immunoassay technologies to develop diagnostic test reagents. These reagents are designed to run on automated chemistry analyzers and chemiluminescence instruments in user-friendly formats. Diazyme is a current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13485-certified medical device manufacturer.

The acquired business adds a nationwide customer support network, wide instrumentation placement, and service capabilities to Diazyme’s operations. The acquisition is linked to expanding access to reliable, accurate testing solutions for physicians, veterinarians, researchers, and laboratories. Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies’ chief executive will continue to manage the business as part of Diazyme’s management team.

“Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies strengthens Diazyme’s ability to serve customers through a strong nationwide customer support network, wide instrumentation placement, and a demonstrated commitment to service excellence. Through trusted relationships and highly trained technical-support team, Diazyme will be better positioned to expand access to reliable, accurate testing solutions and support physicians, veterinarians, researchers, and laboratories in making timely, informed decisions,” said Dr. Chong Yuan, Managing Director of Diazyme Laboratories.
