Qiagen NV (Hamburg, Germany), a provider of molecular diagnostics, sample and assay technologies, and applied testing has officially opened a new subsidiary in Hong Kong. More...
The location will serve as the company's center for further business expansion in the region.

"Hong Kong is a focal point for science, healthcare, and the fast developing market for biomedical research,” said Dr. Frauke Ehlert, general manager of Qiagen China & Hong Kong. With growth rates of over 60%, Asia today is the company's fastest growing marketplace. The company maintains 12 Asian offices with approximately 300 employees.

Qiagen's business activities in Asia address the growing demand for solutions in diagnostics and life science research. The company provides molecular diagnostic and testing systems for infectious diseases. Demographic developments and the further growth of middle classes in many Asian countries are spurring the demand for diagnostic solutions and also catalyzing increased investments in science.

Qiagen Asia, headquartered in Shanghai, was established in 2006 as one of the company's regional organizations. Products to customers in Taiwan, India, Thailand, and Vietnam are sold via local distributors; Japan has its own entity within the Qiagen organization.
