Inverness Medical Innovations, Inc. More...
(Waltham, MA, USA), a manufacturer and marketer of rapid diagnostic products for the consumer and professional markets, has acquired Benelux distributor Orange Medical (Tilburg, The Netherlands) in an all cash deal for approximately €4.2 million, or US$5.7 million.

The acquisition of Orange Medical, which has companies in the Netherlands and Belgium, will increase Inverness' direct distribution network for its professional diagnostic products into Benelux. The acquisition is consistent with Inverness' efforts to continue to improve margins by bringing distribution in-house.

Inverness Medical Innovations is a developer of advanced diagnostic devices and is presently exploring new opportunities for its proprietary electrochemical and other technologies in a variety of professional diagnostic and consumer-oriented applications including immuno-diagnostics with a focus on women's health, cardiology, and infectious disease.

Orange Medical is an independent company active the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg) and serving hospitals and laboratories in the health care sector. Its selling and marketing activities are focused in the following market segments: immunodiagnostics, reproduction, and fertility prenatal diagnostics point-of-care (POC).
