Expanded Partnership Scales AI-Powered Digital Pathology for Oncology

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 20 Oct 2026

Oncology diagnostics rely on pathology and biomarker information to guide personalized treatment. More...

As computational pathology and artificial intelligence (AI) expand insights from tissue analysis, laboratories need digital systems that support efficient workflows and timely interpretation. An expanded digital pathology infrastructure aims to meet these needs through a scalable, AI-ready model that provides more consistent access to diagnostic insights.

NeoGenomics, Inc. (Fort Myers, FL, USA) has expanded its partnership with Indica Labs (Albuquerque, NM, USA) to scale AI-powered digital pathology across its enterprise using the HALO AP platform. The vendor-neutral image management system provides a scalable, cloud-based framework for digital pathology operations. Its flexible architecture is designed to accommodate both third-party and internally developed AI tools while limiting integration costs.

The broader HALO platforms combine image management with quantitative image analysis to support standardized, reproducible tissue-based analysis. This infrastructure is intended to streamline operations and give customers direct access to advanced digital capabilities without substantial capital investment, complex information technology integration, or extensive change management.

By providing a foundation for emerging AI-based biomarker applications, the expanded framework is also intended to help NeoGenomics prepare its testing capabilities for the growing oncology antibody-drug conjugate pipeline. HALO AP is CE-IVDR marked for in-vitro diagnostic use in Europe, the UK, and Switzerland. In the United States, HALO AP is for research use only and is not cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for clinical diagnostic use.

NeoGenomics has worked with Indica Labs on technology dating back to 2015 and has used digital pathology for more than a decade. The new infrastructure is also expected to support future AI co-development and clinical trial collaborations while expanding large-scale, curated pathology datasets. Its broader digital pathology menu is intended to guide personalized treatment decisions for the patients served by NeoGenomics clients.

“We view this strategic partnership as vital to the future of integrated oncology diagnostics. By scaling our digital pathology infrastructure with Indica Labs, we will have the ability to provide our pathologists and clinicians with more consistent, efficient workflows, while building the foundation we need to keep pace as AI becomes a core capability in cancer diagnosis and therapy selection. Ultimately, this is about giving the patients we serve access to faster, lifesaving decisions and informed care,” said Warren Stone, President and Chief Operating Officer of NeoGenomics.
