Automated Stainer Released for High Throughput Staining

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 15 Aug 2013
An advanced automated stainer offers improvements in workflow optimization, particularly when multiple protocols are used. More...

Called the Gemini AS, the touchscreen interface is intuitive to use and makes day-to-day operation simple. New LED lighting allows the operator a clear view of what is going on inside the staining area. It is also fully compatible with the Thermo Scientific range of coverslips to match the workflow of modern high-throughput laboratories

Up to 12 slide racks can be processed at the same time. The control software automatically arranges the reagent positions for greatest speed and performance. Duplicate reagents can be assigned automatically according to QC usage values to reduce downtime to change reagents.

The dual-layer configuration of Gemini makes the most use of laboratory space. Gemini AS also adds a built-in power supply for protection of valuable samples. Protocols are easy to prepare and readily modified, and the recommended protocols come preinstalled. A USB port allows data to be downloaded easily for off-line processing and analysis.

Thermo Scientific (Waltham, MA, USA) launched the new automated stainer for high throughput staining, especially in histology.
