Automated Urinalysis System Integrates Chemistry Analyzer with Microscopy Systems

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 01 Aug 2011
A urine chemistry analyzer is combined with urine microscopy systems to provide a fully automated urinalysis system.

The integrated system, which comprises the iChem Velocity benchtop analyzer and the iQ200 automated urine microscopy systems (IQ200elite and iQ200sprint), is called the Iricell urinalysis workcell.

The iChem Velocity is a product of Iris Diagnostics (Chatsworth, CA, USA). More...
The system contains an ascorbic acid test pad to identify possible ascorbic acid interference, ensuring clinically accurate results.

iChem test strips provide a 12-test profile with 10 chemistry assays including glucose, protein, bilirubin, urobilinogen, pH, specific gravity by refractometer, color, and clarity.

The workcell can handle 200 samples per hour; it has a continuous strip loading capability, 300 urine chemistry-strip load capacity, and provides storage for 10,000 patient records.
