Maintaining Integrity of Light-Sensitive Samples with Black Microplate and Seal Combo

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 25 May 2010
Black microplate and seal combination technology eliminates sample degradation by exposure to light, even over long-term storage periods. More...

Manufactured from polypropylene, Porvair Sciences' (Leatherhead, Surrey, UK) black 96-deep well microplate offers excellent heat- and solvent-resistant qualities. Using only ultrapure grade polymer means that each black plate has near-zero leachates, ensuring long-term sample integrity. Porvair black plates are supplied RNase/Dnase-free so they can be used with even the most sensitive biologic samples. Offering a sample volume of 1 mL/well with round-well bottoms for good mixing, Porvair black plates are precisely manufactured to applicable ANSI [American National Standards Institute]/SBS [Society for Biomolecular Sciences] dimensions, ensuring complete compatibility with almost all readers and automated equipment.

Also available from Porvair Sciences is the AbsorbMax sealing films, which are 200-µm thick black vinyl adhesive sealing films for use with 96-well black microplates. A split backing aids in applying the sealing film properly. Edge cutouts assist in positioning and accommodate ribs on the plate bottom. The light-blocking and absorbing properties of AbsorbMax sealing films make them suitable, in combination with Porvair black 96-well plates, for protecting light-sensitive assays or samples during storage.
