High Speed Slide Scanner Introduced for Digital Pathology

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 20 May 2010
A high-speed slide scanner is used for digital pathology applications such as image analysis, telepathology, remote microscopy, and education.

The Iscan Coreo Au allows walkaway scanning of up to 160 slides and includes an automated turret with multiple objectives, volume scan (z-stacked) images with multiple planes, and Iscan Coreo Au Live, an application supporting remote microscopy and collaboration.

BioImagene (Sunnyvale, CA, USA) unveiled the Iscan Coreo Au together with the latest version of Virtuoso software at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) annual meeting, which was held from March 22-24, 2010, in Washington D.C. More...

Virtuoso uses web technology to transform the viewing experience for pathologists. It offers users companion algorithms for a complete breast, prostate, and colon panel. Some of the features in Virtuoso include work-list management, real-time collaboration between users, and a fast viewing experience.

Dr. Ajit Singh, CEO of BioImagene said, "Speed is the single most important factor that will accelerate adoption of digital pathology. The launch of Iscan Coreo Au and Virtuoso is a key milestone for the industry: it unequivocally takes the speed of scanning and viewing to benchmark levels."

BioImagene focuses on end-to-end digital pathology solutions, and its suite of products also includes the innovative iSlide input device and the Crescendo digital pathology workstation. The company is a leading provider of innovative and scalable digital pathology solutions for diagnostics. Its product line includes a unique image viewing input device called the iSlide, and a high-performance pathology workstation called Crescendo. BioImagene is also the platinum sponsor of PathXchange, a vendor neutral, not for profit website for the pathology community.
