Integrated Compact Workstation is Fast and Accurate

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 29 Aug 2008
A fast and compact automation workstation can handle applications ranging from simple microplate processing tasks to sophisticated applications, such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) preparation, which were previously only possible with higher priced, full-size automation systems.

The platform is an integrated benchtop robot and microplate storage system that provides the speed and precision of a full-sized automation platform. More...
The platform features a unique high-speed plate shuttle that accesses integrated microplate stacks and peripheral microplate-based instruments including liquid handlers, dispensers, readers, sealers, washers, centrifuges, and microplate storage devices. This customizable, modular design provides the flexibility and scalability required to meet the needs of the most diverse laboratory environments.

Called the BenchCel R Platform, it is a product of Velocity11 (Menlo Park, CA, USA) and handles more integrations, rack styles, types of labware, and capacity options than any other compact automated workstation. Its features include microplates, deep-well plates and tip boxes; and the choice of two-, four-, or six-rack configurations allow the BenchCel R Platform to productively handle more lab applications.

Velocity11, an Agilent Technologies company, designs and manufactures flexible high-performance automation systems and instruments for applications that include medium- to high-throughput screening of cell-based and enzyme assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA), plasmid and sequencing preparation, PCR clean-up, and solubility.
