Siemens Renews Contract with Premier Purchasing Partners

Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics (Deerfield, IL, USA) announced a new three-year contract with Premier Purchasing Partners, L.P. More...
(San Diego, CA, USA), the group-purchasing unit of Premier Inc. The new contract, which became effective April 1, 2010, continues Siemens' long-standing relationship with Premier, providing members with ongoing access to Siemens' comprehensive portfolio of diagnostic systems, tests, and automation solutions.

Siemens provides Premier members with a complete line of products: chemistry, immunoassay, automation, coagulation, microbiology, cardiac, drug testing, molecular, blood gas, and urinalysis solutions. These include Dimension and Dimension Vista integrated chemistry systems, Advia immunoassay and clinical chemistry systems, Stratus CS Acute Cardiac Care System and Syva reagents, as well as the Siemens family of plasma protein analyzers, and Viva drug testing systems. Premier members are offered a menu of Siemens' diagnostic tests to help detect and monitor a variety of health conditions, ranging from heart disease to diabetes and cancer.

A sole-source agreement was also awarded to Siemens covering all of the same products for members participating in Premier's Accelerated Supply Chain Endeavor (ASCEND) program.

The Siemens Healthcare Sector is one of the world's largest suppliers to the healthcare industry particularly in laboratory diagnostics, medical imaging, medical information technology, and hearing aids. By optimizing clinical workflows for the most common diseases, Siemens also makes healthcare faster, better and more cost-effective.

The Premier healthcare alliance is comprised of more than 2,300 U.S. hospitals and 64,000-plus other healthcare sites. The alliance operates a leading healthcare purchasing network and maintains a comprehensive repository of clinical, financial, and outcomes information.
