Span Diagnostics, Ltd. More...
(SDL; Surat, India) and Nihon Kohden Corp. (Tokyo, Japan) announced the formation of a joint venture company called Span Nihon Kohden Diagnostics Pvt Ltd. (SNKDPL).

A manufacturing facility for the newly formed company built at Sachin (Gujarat, India) was inaugurated on October 9, 2008. Officials from both companies present at the opening of the new facility included the chairman of SDL, P. K. Desai M.D. and chairman of Nihon Kohden, Kazuo Ogino.

A few years ago, SDL, in an effort to strengthen its position in the hematology segment, began to distribute Nihon Kohden hematology analyzers in India. Span has already installed more than 1,000 analyzers and has secured its position as one of the top companies in hematology.

SDL produces products for pathology and clinical laboratories in India. These include diagnostic solutions for diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and typhoid, as well as reagents for blood banks. Span is also involved in laboratory automation systems for biochemistry, hematology, enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA), and allergy testing.

When functioning at its full capacity, the plant will ensure a consistent supply of quality reagents in India.
