Open Tube Hematology Analyzer Is Compact and Versatile

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 05 Nov 2009
An open tube analyzer enables flexible and convenient in vitro diagnostic (IVD) testing of whole blood specimens. More...

The compact hematology analyzer is ideal for situations where there are various types of sample tubes and sample types. Called Pentra ES60, it covers 26 parameters including complete blood cell (CBC) and differential (DIFF) counts. It also counts atypical lymphocytes and large immature cells and processes up to 60 samples an hour.

The Pentra ES 60's integrated multi-distribution sampling system (MDSS) enables micro-sampling (30 µL in CBC mode and 53 µL in CBC + DIFF), making the analyzer ideal for pediatric or geriatric sample types, where only small sample volumes are available.

Ideal as a standalone analyzer for small to medium sized laboratories, the Pentra ES 60 is a compact bench top system, designed to take up minimal workspace. The analyzer's Windows-based software makes it simple to use. It is adaptable to enable threshold adjustments for specific sample types. The simplicity of the analyzer's design also means there is no daily maintenance, just one automatic start up and shut down each day.

Launched by Horiba Medical (Moulton Park, UK) the Pentra ES 60 five-part differential (Diff) analyzer expands the company's open tube hematology analysis range. To ensure system security, the Pentra ES 60 can be set up with password-protected access, which also enables full audit trails for quality assurance purposes.

Horiba Medical designs and manufactures automated in vitro diagnostic systems for hematology as well as chemistry focused analytical solutions. From compact point-of-care (POC) to high throughput systems, Horiba Medical has developed an array of analyzers and data management solutions to meet many needs, enabling analysis wherever it is required.
