Compact PCR Thermal Cycler Launches for Routine Molecular Laboratory Workflows

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 26 Oct 2026

Molecular laboratories rely on nucleic acid analysis to detect molecular information accurately and reproducibly across a wide range of applications. More...

Supporting these routine workflows, a newly launched compact thermal cycler is designed to provide reliable nucleic acid amplification for laboratory use.

Diatech Pharmacogenetics (Jesi, Italy) has launched Labcycler, a compact PCR thermal cycler, following its acquisition of Germany-based SensoQuest. Originally developed by SensoQuest, the instrument is now manufactured at Diatech’s facility in Jesi. The launch marks Diatech’s entry into the laboratory instrumentation market, expanding its portfolio beyond reagents and diagnostic kits into broader molecular laboratory solutions.

Labcycler is designed for robustness, accuracy, and ease of use in routine laboratory workflows. The system supports nucleic acid amplification, a core step in molecular testing that depends on consistent and reproducible thermal cycling performance. Its development combines SensoQuest’s German engineering heritage with manufacturing at Diatech’s Italian facility.

Diatech had previously used and evaluated Labcycler through its molecular diagnostics research and development activities. Based on the instrument’s performance, the company took over its manufacturing and further development to make it available to a broader market. Labcycler is designed for up to 600,000 cycles, which the company describes as equivalent to approximately 20 years of use, and is now commercially available.

“With the acquisition of SensoQuest and the launch of Labcycler, Diatech is taking a strategic step, from reagents and diagnostic kits to complete solutions for the molecular laboratory. What convinced us was the quality of the German engineering, to which Diatech now adds Italian manufacturing and the know-how we have built over the years. Together, these features create a powerful combination that is grounded in expertise. Precision, reliability and ease of use are what laboratories ask us for every day, and Labcycler delivers them all in a platform built to last,” said Fabio Biondi, President of Diatech Pharmacogenetics.
