Posted on 02 Aug 2016
An automated, CE-marked diagnostic test for 17-Hydroxyprogesterone (17-OH P) is among the assays that are being demonstrated by Immunodiagnostic Systems Holdings PLC (Tyne & Wear, United Kingdom) in Booth 137 at the 2016 AACC Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo (Philadelphia, PA, USA).

17-Hydroxyprogesterone (17-OH P) is a steroid hormone produced in both the adrenal gland and gonads, which is synthesized from either progesterone or 17-hydroxypregnenolone. More...
It functions as a precursor of cortisol in the adrenal glands or is converted into androgenic and estrogenic hormones. Measurement of 17-OH P is used as an aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various disorders of the adrenal glands or the ovaries.

The IDS-iSYS 17-OH Progesterone assay is an in vitro diagnostic device intended for use with the IDS-iSYS Multi-Discipline Automated System for the quantitative determination of 17-OH Progesterone in human serum or plasma.

The iSYS Multi-Discipline Automated System presents a total instrument solution based on simplicity and reliability with full walk-away automation in a compact, bench-top design. The instrument features on-board refrigeration of ready-to-use reagent cartridges, continuous loading with batch, random, and STAT flexibility with easy operation from auto start-up to shutdown.
