The seventh annual European Biotech Crossroads will be held September 25-26, 2003, in Nantes, France. More...
Important figures in the world of biotechnology, including more than 100 leading international experts, will share their insights and experiences in a series of scientific seminars. Attendees can compile their own menu of talks and conferences from the three main tracks of Crossroads: science, business, and careers. In addition, there will be a trade show and a business-partnering convention bringing together investors, startups, and patent attorneys.

In planning the program, the organizers have focused on addressing the hot issues affecting biotechnology (nanotechnology, new diagnostics and analysis tools, clinical trials) as well as tackling topics that have become more traditional (gene therapy, genomics and proteomics, vaccines). The 2002 Biotech Crossroads, held in Lille, attracted 3,208 delegates, 308 exhibitors at the trade show, and 180 participants in the business-partnering convention.

"This conference program demonstrates our commitment to make the European Biotech Crossroads a must for biotech people in Europe,” said Jean-Francois Balducci, chairman of the organizing committee. Further details are available on the conference website.

The binding of these antibodies alters the distribution of electrical charges on the electrode surface. The sensor then translates this variation into a measurable capacitance signal (photo courtesy of Gabriella Soares / IFSC-USP)

Rapid Biosensor Detects Pancreatic Cancer Biomarker for Early Detection

Pancreatic cancer is frequently identified only after it has progressed because early disease is typically asymptomatic, and survival remains extremely poor once advanced. Conventional laboratory assays... Read more
