New Protein Expression Company Formed

By Biotechdaily staff writers
Posted on 24 Jul 2002
In order to extend its chemical genomics and proteomics capabilities, ComGenex, Inc. More...
(Budapest, Hungary), a major chemistry provider to the drug development industry, has established a new company called ReComGenex. ReComGenex will offer molecular biology services, technology access, and collaborative development.

The newly established firm will use proprietary technologies to provide a range of services from cloning, expression, and purification of proteins through mutant protein design to high throughput protein renaturation capabilities.

Following the completion of the Human Genome Project, the need for faster, more versatile, and more reliable methods to express specific genetic sequences has become crucial for increasing the efficiency and speed of new drug discovery. The capabilities developed by ReComGenex were designed to help researchers express and modify proteins to gain a deeper understanding of the role of individual proteins in the pathology of diseases. ReComGenex exploits proprietary technologies for protein expression in various expression systems, recombinant protein purification technology (XpressXpert), and technology to generate custom protein mutants on order (ImprovEnz).

Dr. Ferenc Darvas, president and chairman of ComGenex and chairman of ReComGenex said, "Recombinant protein expression has much to offer medical research today, and ReComGenex has deep experience with several promising technologies that can really make an impact.”
