Nova Biomedical Presents POC Critical Care Blood Gas Analyzers at AACC 2022

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 26 Jul 2022

Nova Biomedical (Waltham, MA, USA) is presenting its range of whole blood testing products that improve patient safety and care, including point-of-care, whole blood meters and critical care blood gas analyzers, at the 2022 AACC Clinical Lab Expo. More...

At AACC 2022, Nova is highlighting the Allegro POC capillary blood chemistry analyzer that features a clinically important menu of 10 measured and individually selectable tests, plus seven calculated tests. All measured tests are analyzed using disposable, ready-to-use cartridges or test strips, and are easily performed by non-technical personnel. A very small capillary blood drop is all that is required, eliminating the need for a venipuncture or a trained phlebotomist. Allegro’s 6 - 9-minute test times - and ability to run two cartridges simultaneously - provide rapid results during the patient visit.

The company is also showcasing the Nova Max Creatinine/eGFR, a fast, accurate, and easy to use meter and biosensor for kidney function testing that reports creatinine and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) results (with or without race as a factor) using the CKD-EPI equation from a small, capillary fingerstick blood sample in just 30 seconds. The measurement technique is very easy to use and is virtually identical to the use of a glucose meter. Nova Max Pro Creatinine measuring technology is based on Nova’s StatSensor Creatinine enzymatic technology that has been proven in hospital point-of-care applications for over 15 years.

Also on display at the Nova AACC 2022 booth will be the Stat Profile Prime Plus comprehensive whole blood critical care analyzer that offers blood gases, electrolytes, metabolites, hematology, and co-oximetry testing in a simple, compact device. Prime Plus helps clinicians assess acid base balance, electrolyte balance, glycemic control, kidney function, blood oxygenation, oxygen carrying capacity of blood, tissue hypoxia, and plasma volume (ePV) in one minute from two drops of blood. The analyzer uses a small 135µL sample and supplements liquid quality controls with automated real-time electronic quality control monitoring.
