New Electronic Pipette Enhances Workflows with Touchscreen Control

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 17 Mar 2026

Manual pipetting remains a routine yet error-prone step that can affect reproducibility and throughput in clinical and research laboratories. More...

Training demands and ergonomic strain also add variability across users and sites. A new device now offers touchscreen-guided programming and automated features intended to streamline workflows and support consistent results.

Thermo Fisher Scientific (Waltham, MA, USA) has introduced the Fluid Ease Pro ClipTip electronic pipette, incorporating what the company describes as the first large, high‑resolution touchscreen for a pipette on the market. The instrument combines intelligent power management with advanced programming to support reproducible pipetting in both routine and demanding workflows.

The Fluid Ease Pro ClipTip integrates the Thermo Scientific ClipTip attachment system to secure tips with a consistent, reliable seal between pipette and tip. This design helps maintain stable volume delivery throughout successive dispenses, with release occurring only through intentional ejection. The touchscreen interface turns setup and protocol execution into a clear, visual process to reduce complexity and shorten training time for both new and experienced users.

Ergonomics are emphasized to help reduce strain during extended use, supporting both routine and high‑throughput applications. The interface supports five language options and up to five user profiles to unify operation across users and global laboratory networks. A structured interface, shared preset protocols and custom calibration options enable alignment of performance to specific liquids or laboratory conditions, helping teams standardize workflows and achieve consistent results between regions and sites.

“Labs are facing increasing research demands, emphasizing the importance of small, but necessary procedures like pipetting,” said Karolina Pranckevičiūtė, Thermo Fisher global product manager. “The new Fluid Ease Pro ClipTip is designed to help not only enhance the pipetting process but to help create reproducible results across research teams all at a faster speed.”
