A new and complete connectivity system allows labs to become connected to the right quality control (QC) data management solution. More...

Launched by Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (Hercules, CA, USA), UnityConnect is a connectivity solution that allows QC data from laboratory information systems (LIS), and middleware and/or instruments to be quickly and easily imported into Unity software and web services. The solution provides many advantages to the laboratory including automation, ease-of-setup, and trouble-free operation.

"UnityConnect sets a new standard for laboratory quality control as connectivity is now available and affordable for any laboratory need,” said Serge Jonnaert, informatics manager, quality systems division at Bio-Rad.

UnityConnect uses Bio-Rad software and optional hardware to interface QC data from instruments, middleware, and LIS directly into UnityWeb, Unity Real Time, Unity Real Time Online, and Unity Desktop to provide effective QC data processing. The system automates the import of QC data, eliminating manual data entry and errors. The interface hardware is easy to install; it is transparent to the flow of data to the LIS, and captures and analyzes QC data economically from laboratory instruments not connected to the LIS. A wireless option is available.

UnityConnect facilitates regulatory compliance under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and (ISO; Geneva, Switzerland) 15189. Unity QC data management solutions provide statistical process control with available audit trails; QC data review, charts and reports, and enable participation in Unity, a comprehensive and widely used interlaboratory program.
