New Collaboration Integrates Low-Code Automation into Laboratory Platform

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 03 Aug 2026

Clinical laboratories face rising operational complexity, regulatory scrutiny, and pressure to deliver faster results. More...

Traditional LIMS and LIS configurations often depend on scarce development resources, creating delays and limiting agility. To adapt more efficiently, organizations need governed ways to redesign workflows without rewriting code. A new system now embeds low-code/no-code capabilities within a laboratory platform, helping teams modify workflows quickly while maintaining control and regulatory confidence.

Clinisys (Tucson, AZ, USA) has formed a strategic partnership with Decisions (Virginia Beach, VA, USA), integrating Decisions’ low-code/no-code orchestration, automation, and advanced AI capabilities into the Clinisys Platform. The collaboration is positioned as a scalable alternative to conventional configuration models, aiming to accelerate time-to-value while preserving operational control and regulatory assurance. The combined approach is intended to let laboratories adapt LIMS/LIS configurations more efficiently without compromising governance.

At the core of the integration is a low-code/no-code engine that enables laboratories to design, adapt, and manage workflows using visual tools and reusable components. Decisions adds a unified environment for workflow automation, rules management, and integration so organizations can orchestrate complex processes without writing code. By embedding these capabilities directly into the platform, teams can modify and optimize workflows within a structured, controlled framework rather than relying on proprietary languages or vendor-restricted development tools.

The companies indicate the model supports implementation and system changes, reduces dependency on custom development and specialized expertise, and supports regulatory compliance and traceability. It is designed to scale workflows as testing requirements evolve across healthcare, life sciences, public health, environmental testing, food and beverage, toxicology, and manufacturing. The partnership promotes laboratory-controlled configuration so systems can evolve with operational needs while remaining structured, auditable, and traceable.

“Laboratories don’t need more features; they need flexible ways to adapt workflows as their operational requirements evolve beyond traditional, code-heavy paradigms. This partnership puts configuration control and advanced AI tools into the hands of the laboratory, enabling teams to design and adjust workflows through visual tools while maintaining the structure, governance, and performance they require,” said Shay Hassidim, Chief Technology Officer, Clinisys.

“Laboratories are managing increasingly complex, rules-driven processes and those processes need to evolve alongside the science itself. By bringing together Clinisys’s laboratory expertise with our orchestration and rules platform, we’re enabling organizations to adapt workflows more efficiently while keeping decision logic clear, consistent, and scalable,” said Giles Whiting, CEO, Decisions.
