Advanced Endoscopy Platform Targets Challenging Upper GI Procedures

Fujifilm’s ELUXEO 8000 Endoscopic Imaging System, used with the EG-840TP ultra‑slim therapeutic gastroscope, was named “Best New Endoscopy Technology Solution” in the 10th annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards program. More...

Announced on May 7, 2026, the recognition marks the second consecutive year MedTech Breakthrough has honored a Fujifilm endoscopy platform. The system-scope combination was launched in 2025 to support clinicians performing advanced, noninvasive upper gastrointestinal procedures.

The ELUXEO 8000 is a single-unit processor and light source designed to enhance image quality, therapeutic capabilities, and workflow. In addition to established image‑enhancement light modes, the platform introduces a proprietary Amber‑Red Color Imaging (ACI) mode. ACI supports detection of bleeding sources and improves visualization of blood vessels and tissue layers in the submucosal space during Third Space Endoscopy (TSE), providing the ability to help reduce procedural risks such as internal bleeding or inadvertent muscle injury.

When paired with the EG-840TP gastroscope, the platform combines high‑performance imaging with a device engineered for difficult anatomy. The EG-840TP features a 7.9 mm outer diameter to navigate strictures and facilitate submucosal tunneling, along with enhanced angulation for access. A dedicated water‑jet helps maintain visualization during TSE, and complementary metal‑oxide‑semiconductor (CMOS) imaging technology supports advanced image clarity.

MedTech Breakthrough is an independent market intelligence organization recognizing top companies and products in global medical technology. This year’s program attracted more than 4,500 nominations from over 18 countries. In 2025, Fujifilm’s EN‑840T Double Balloon Enteroscopy scope received the same endoscopy category award.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized by MedTech once again with this Breakthrough Award. Interventional upper GI and Third Space Endoscopy procedures are noninvasive and lead to shorter hospital stays, quicker recoveries, and better outcomes—but they are very challenging for clinicians. Fujifilm’s ELUXEO 8000 system coupled with our EG-840TP ultra slim therapeutic gastroscope are tools designed to support these clinicians and help push the boundaries of emerging upper GI endoscopy techniques,” said Tai Fujita, Senior Vice President, Endoscopy Division, FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation.

“Fujifilm is elevating and advancing the field of third space therapeutic endoscopy with their uniquely innovative dual technologies,” said Steve Johansson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough. “We are delighted to recognize this endoscopy leader for the second consecutive year with a MedTech Breakthrough Award.”

Plasma Protein Signature Predicts Lung Cancer Risk Up to Five Years Ahead

Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer death, and many cases are detected only after symptoms appear. Current screening programs largely target people with a history of smoking, leaving other at-risk... Read more
