挪威阿克斯胡斯大学医院(Lørenskog, Norway; www.med.uio.no)研究了1229名来自51个临床中心的慢性心力衰竭(CHF)病人血浆中的OPG水平。研究人员使用市售的单克隆抗体(R&D Systems; Abingdon, UK; www.rndsystems.com),通过本院从ELISA改造的时间分辨免疫荧光法定量测量了OPG水平。对OPG的检测限为15纳克/升。

在中值为3.9年的随访期内,有332例死亡,791例因心血管原因死亡或者住院。OPG的中值为1509纳克/升(四分位距:1,102-2,185纳克/升)。血液循环中的OPG水平和若干常规风险标记物相关。OPG水平较高的病人多为老年人、女性、以更高的功能性评估值为表征的更严重的心力衰竭以及缺血性心力衰竭。
