Union to Provide Bioinformatics Tools

By Biotechdaily staff writers
Posted on 15 Jan 2003
A long-term strategic collaboration to develop and distribute novel bioinformatics and training tools has been announced by Amersham Biosciences (Piscataway, NJ) and Geneva Bioinformatics SA (GeneBio, Geneva, Switzerland). More...

The agreement unites the proteomics and support of Amersham Biosciences with GeneBio's experience in the bioinformatics field in an effort to bring to market bioinformatics tools that enable scientists to gain more value and efficiency from their proteomics research.

In one aspect of the collaboration, Amersham Biosciences will exclusively distribute GeneBio's Bioinformatics and Proteomics Training Program to the scientific community. This program addresses the increasing need for comprehensive and easily accessible proteomics-based bioinformatics intelligence by enabling scientists to optimize their use of bioinformatics databases and data analysis tools.

"Researchers worldwide are generating massive amounts of data from the emerging field of proteomics,” said Pieter Noordeloos, vice president, marketing, proteomics, at Amersham Biosciences. "Those researchers would greatly benefit from having state-of-the-art training and bioinformatics tools to manage and analyze that data, and the knowledge of how to use those tool to maximize the value of their research.”
