Solutions for Sample Supply and Data Analysis

By Biotechdaily staff writers
Posted on 27 Sep 2002
A service provides biotechnology researchers with access to well-characterized, properly consented DNA, RNA, sera, and snap-frozen samples.

These are available from the Global Respository of Genomics Collaborative, Inc. More...
(GCI, Cambridge, MA, USA) via a service called GCI Access. Customers can use GCI Access on a fee-per-sample basis and may also receive analyses of the data, including genotypic DNA analysis on GCI's Sequenom MassArray genotyping platform, target validation via rtPCR (polymerase chain reaction), and RNA expression analysis on an Affymetrix-based platform.

GCI Access combines large numbers of samples and analysis tools to eliminate or reduce the need for internal resources. GCI has enrolled more than 115,000 patients in the Global Repository, which the company says is the largest known collection of appropriately consented clinical research material.

"GCI's Global Repository is a tremendous resource, and our goal is to continue to leverage it in powerful ways,” said Michael J. Pellini, M.D., CEO of GCI.
