International Award for Cancer Prevention Research

This Award for Excellence in Cancer Prevention Research will be given to a scientist residing in any country in the world for seminal contributions in basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic, or behavioral science investigations in cancer prevention research that have had a major impact on the field and stimulated new directions in this field.

The nomination procedure and other details are located on the AACR website (www.aacr.org). The nomination deadline is Thursday, August 1, 2002.

The winner will present a major lecture during the first AACR Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research Meeting, October 14-18, 2002, in Boston, MA, USA. The awardee will receive an honorarium of US$5,000 and a commemorative plaque, as well as support for travel and subsistence expenses to attend the meeting.

The award is open to all cancer researchers who are affiliated with any research institution anywhere in the world. Candidates will be considered on the basis of their seminal contributions to cancer prevention research and the impact of these discoveries on advancing the field. Candidates must currently maintain an active research program, have a record of recent publications, and be in a position to present the award lecture at the meeting. The selection of the awardee will be made solely on the basis of the candidate's scientific accomplishments without regard to race, gender, nationality, geographic location, or religious or political views.
