New Kits Enable Rapid Labeling of Proteins and Other Macromolecules

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 17 Nov 2014
Biotech or other life science researchers who prepare their own bioconjugated proteins, antibodies, or macromolecules will benefit from a new series of rapid labeling kits.

Innova Biosciences (Cambridge, United Kingdom), launched new antibody and protein labeling kits within its Lightning-Link Rapid range. More...
These kits enable researchers to label primary antibodies or other proteins in about 20 minutes.

This range of kits include those for labeling molecules with high sensitivity Atto and Cy dyes as well as a rapid biotin conjugation kit. Boasting a reaction with an exceptionally short incubation time, the biotinylation kit yields conjugates with performance characteristics identical to, or better than, those prepared with laborious multistep conjugation procedures. Furthermore, the method does not require desalting or dialysis steps. Thus, Lightning-Link Rapid technology can be used to label small quantities of material with nearly 100% recovery.

Dr. Nick Gee, CEO of Innova, said: "The launch of the Lightning-Link kits completes the development of our Rapid conjugation range, and follows on from the success of the original kits, which had a much longer reaction time. This latest product introduction underlines Lightning-Link as one of the world’s leading bioconjugation technologies, offering easy-to-use labeling that provides excellent results with minimal hands on time and 100% yield.”
