Sample-Management Software Tracks Compounds and Reagents

By Biotechdaily staff writers
Posted on 12 Sep 2003
A sample-management software suite tracks drug compounds and reagents and manages the processes that prepare them for drug screening.

Primary and secondary screening are complex and expensive procedures. More...
Compounds and reagents need to be retrieved from disparate stores and then taken through manual and automated processing stages such as weighing and liquid handling before the screening assay can take place. Called Mosaic, the new software tells lab workers what they have, where it is, and what needs to be done with it. By providing sample management with an easy-to-use interface, Mosaic can help reduce errors, decrease sample usage, increase efficiency, and speed up each iteration of the screening cycle. The software was developed by Titian Software Limited (London, UK).

"With the launch of the full Mosaic system, Titian offers drug discovery companies a software solution that just didn't exist previously: the combination of inventory tracking, workflow management, sample ordering, and integration of all robotic equipment involved in sample processing,” said Edmund Wilson, technical director of Titian.

The binding of these antibodies alters the distribution of electrical charges on the electrode surface. The sensor then translates this variation into a measurable capacitance signal (photo courtesy of Gabriella Soares / IFSC-USP)

Rapid Biosensor Detects Pancreatic Cancer Biomarker for Early Detection

Pancreatic cancer is frequently identified only after it has progressed because early disease is typically asymptomatic, and survival remains extremely poor once advanced. Conventional laboratory assays... Read more
