BioConference Live to Focus on Clinical Diagnostics

On Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at 12:00 noon EDT, Alan Wu Ph.D., chief of clinical chemistry and toxicology and professor of laboratory medicine at San Francisco General Hospital (CA, USA) and University of California, San Francisco (CA, USA) will speak about the emerging role of pharmacogenomics in clinical research and practice. On the same day at 4: PM EDT Gyorgy Abel M.D. Ph.D., director of clinical immunology and molecular diagnostics at Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA, USA) will talk about human papillomavirus (HPV) molecular testing in cervical cancer screening.

On the following day, Thursday October 21st, 2010, at 9 AM James Nichols Ph.D., DABCC, FACB, medical director of clinical chemistry at Baystate Health (Springfield, MA, USA) and professor of pathology at Tufts University School of Medicine (Boston, MA. USA) will discuss point-of-care testing, what it is, and why everyone wants it. Later on Thursday, at 4:00 PM EDT Keith C. Ferdinand, M.D., FACC, FAHA, will talk about strategies for the management of hypertension. Dr. Ferdinand is the adjunct professor at Morehouse School of Medicine (Atlanta, GA, USA), and clinical professor, cardiology division at Emory University (Atlanta, GA, USA). He is also Chief Science Officer (CSO) for the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC; Washington DC, USA).
