(Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA) and Nipro Diabetes Systems, Inc. (Miramar, Florida, USA) announced that the two companies are merging to become Nipro Diagnostics, Inc.

Both companies are wholly owned by Nipro Corporation (Osaka, Japan), a multibillion-dollar company, and a world leader in providing medical products to the healthcare community.

Home Diagnostics manufactures and markets the TRUE brand of quality, high-performance blood glucose monitoring systems. These products are affordable, accurate, and reliable. The company supplies blood glucose monitoring systems for medical products distributors, national retail pharmacies, pharmacy wholesalers, and mail-order suppliers.

Nipro Diabetes Systems manufactures and markets the Amigo insulin pump that helps keep blood glucose in control for children and adults with types 1 and 2 diabetes. Built for safety, reliability, accuracy and durability, the insulin pump features computer like help screens for easy programming.

The merger of the two companies results in a comprehensive diabetes monitoring and insulin-management product portfolio, which few companies offer. This portfolio will help to ensure that patients and healthcare professionals have easy access to high-quality diabetes monitoring and management tools.

The name change to Nipro Diagnostics, Inc. is effective immediately for Home Diagnostics. The merger of the two companies is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2010.
