An open track-based system will enable laboratories to consolidate and automate sample processing procedures. More...

Laboratory automation provides more efficient sample management, improved laboratory services, and shortened turnaround times. The open track-based system offers medium to large-sized hospital and private laboratories flexibility and access to additional testing capabilities.

Olympus Life Science Europa (Hamburg, Germany) has signed an agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific (Waltham, MA, USA) for open-track automation for clinical laboratories. The new product offering will complement existing Olympus Laboratory Automation products, including the OLA2500 peri-analytical automation system.

The agreement between the companies will allow laboratory professionals to consolidate Olympus AU-series clinical chemistry and immunoassay analyzers, including various third-party analyzers

Olympus will have the right to distribute Thermo Fisher's TC automation product line, a fully featured, track-based laboratory-automation product line, in the Americas.

Olympus will handle sales and marketing and will provide primary level service and support of the automation products.

By automating the main preanalytical steps, such as centrifugation, decapping, aliquoting and sorting, TC automation helps manage current and future workloads; it interfaces with Olympus systems plus a wide selection of third-party instruments.
