Telstar (Shanghai, China) displayed the latest generation of compact laboratory freeze dryers at MedLab Middle East 2019 held in Dubai, UAE, from February 4-7, 2019. The event saw more than 19,610 unique visitors and 678+ exhibitors sharing the most recent technology available in the IVD, and medical laboratory market.

Among its products exhibited at MedLab Middle East 2019 was the Telstar LyoQuest, a bench-top laboratory freeze dryer that combines this breadth of functionality into a single unit so that users can perform complete cycles on a range of sample containers (vials, trays, ampoules, and flasks) using the same piece of equipment. LyoQuest also enables users to create recipes comprising time, temperature and vacuum control via its integrated PLC control system. Its innovative design results in an extremely compact unit with large condensation capacity up to eight liters and enables many product formats to be pre-frozen by the device, without the need for an additional freezer. The LyoQuest’s ice condenser includes an automatic defrosting function for quick and easy de-icing.

The company also promoted the Telstar Bio II Advance Plus compact range of microbiological safety cabinets (MSC) that are intended for the laminar flow manipulation of microorganisms with biological risk levels 2 and 3. Their innovative cabinet design offers smaller body than the market average while maintaining standard workspace. With dimensions of 759 mm in width and 1260 mm in height, the Bio II Advance Plus provides a working volume of 340 dm3. Equipped to achieve maximum efficiency, this new range of MSC integrates energy saving EC fans and LED illumination that ensures optimum protection levels as well as low energy consumption. Bio II Advance Plus is designed in compliance with the European standards EN 12469 and certified by TÜV-Nord.

Telstar also displayed Boreas, a new -86º ultra-low-temperature freezer designed to increase average performance by 20% and featuring an innovative mechanical design that enhances robustness, efficiency and ergonomics as well as ensures the integrity of the cold preservation process. Equipped with vacuum panels VIP, the freezer guarantees the highest level of thermal insulation and a temperature of -80ºC under an ambient up to +28ºC. Unlike standard freezers designed with panels based on polyurethane foam, a thinner inner insulation provides Boreas with an enlarged storage capacity of up to 30%. Boreas uses high purity natural refrigerant gases to contribute to environment preservation and does not damage the ozone layer. The ecological ultra-low-freezers line has been developed using Telstar’s in-house cold storage technology.
