AXA Diagnostics (Milan, Italy) participated in MEDLAB Middle East, the world’s largest attended laboratory & IVD exhibition and conference, held from February 5-8, 2018 in Dubai, UAE. AXA Diagnostics shared the booth with its sister company, Sclavo Diagnostics Int., where it provided all updates and new applications of its SkyLAB752 automated ELISA/IFA processor. Sclavo is a leading manufacturer of reagents for clinical chemistry, specific/urinary proteins, coagulation, and serology.

AXA Diagnostics is a partner to DASIT Group, which also comprises other leading IVD organizations, such as DASIT S.p.A. and industrial and research laboratories, such as CARLO ERBA Reagents S.r.l. and FASTER S.r.l. AXA Diagnostics develops, produces and markets IVD reagents dedicated to autoimmunity disease and instruments for the automation of all ELISA and IFA testing. The company also provides OEM equipment to fulfill the needs of automating the processing of IVD reagents.

The SkyLAB752 automated ELISA/IFA processor from AXA Diagnostics can simultaneously process ELISA microplates and IFA slides. The system is equipped with two innovative dispensing systems able to work simultaneously and independently. This enables the instrument to pipette an entire microplate in half the time compared to other analyzers available on the market. The movement of the manifold robotic arm does not interfere with the movement of the other two robotic arms, pipettes and microplate robotic arm, making the dispensing, washing and reading steps independent of each other. This architecture allows to maintain the execution times of each processing step aligned with the directions provided on the kit's IFU, leading to elimination of any drift effect.

Its innovative design allows constant access to the microplates by the washer and pipettes, even during incubation, so that the whole procedure applied to each strip can be closely followed and monitored. The SkyLAB 752 uses a LED microplate reading system that allows precision, reduced maintenance and a 3.3 OD photometric range. A state of the art LED light-source provides high performance and minimum maintenance, large measurement range and excellent reproducibility.

The system accommodates five positions on the working area equipped with incubators. Under the working area, two additional positions are available, one of them equipped with a shaker incubator. Each of the seven positions can contain both microplates and IFA slides. As an optional under the working area, SkyLAB 752 can accommodate from one to four positions equipped with incubators and shakers that can contain both microplates and IFA slides.
